The Visalia Rawhide claimed a close win over the Santa Cruz Cruisers, due in large part to Kievyn Johnson. The Visalia left-hander pitched a great game to secure the 2-0 win. The winner was Johnson. He threw 6.2 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Lee Ratliff. Logan Street collected save number 7.
The Rawhide got a big at-bat from left fielder Rocco Piar. For the game, Piar went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Visalia a 2-0 lead.
Piar attributed the win to his team's "determination."
The Rawhide raised their record to 9-8.
