Road Win Lifts Salem-Keizer to 1-0 Lead in WCS
The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes started the Wild Card Series in style, winning on the road against the Yakima Valley Pippins at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park by a score of 5-2 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Volcanoes right-hander Justin Copeland threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball.

Caracalla Baez helped his team take an early lead with a 2-run single. It came in the first inning, making the score 3-0, Volcanoes.

"Things broke our way today and that's great," Volcanoes manager Chotaro Inoue said. "It's important, though, to stay focused and not pat yourself on the back too much. We aren't done yet."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park in Yakima.
