Luther Alford powered the Lakeland Flying Tigers to a win over the Oxford Owls. The final score was 5-3. The Lakeland catcher, who is tied for 8th in the ECL in bases on balls with 56, was a force to be reckoned with. He banged out 3 extra-base hits, including 1 home run and 2 doubles. The Flying Tigers win now puts them at 59-62.

Lakeland right fielder Shepherd Cunningham contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a curveball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 64th hit of the season and put the Flying Tigers ahead, 5-3.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Cunningham told the Lakeland Daily.
