The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of Salem fans at Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium.

Salem left fielder Christian Castillo made his presence felt in the 10-2 Red Sox triumph over the Florida Fire Frogs. Castillo was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Salem reliever Patrick Champoux picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Alden Alcantara took the loss.

Early in the game, right fielder V.J. Oxendine had a bases-clearing double for Salem. It was his 5th double of the season and put the Red Sox on top, 3-0.

"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," Oxendine said in postgame remarks. "Soon enough, the finish line will be in sight."

The Red Sox, at 71-49, sit in third place in the East Coast League Mideast Division.
