Behind a solid performance from first baseman Devern González, the Virginia Beach Mariners defeated the Winston-Salem Dash, 4-1. González went 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 times for the Mariners. Virginia Beach reliever Ergilio Justiana picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Stephen Taylor was saddled with the loss. The save went to Pablo Reyes, number 5 for him.

With Virginia Beach leading 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth, González hit a forkball from Stephen Taylor for a solo home run. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the Mariners ahead, 2-0.
