Charlotte Sports Park was the site of a true pitchers' duel.

The Charlotte Stone Crabs got a superb performance from pitcher Tyler Nguyen. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Winston-Salem. The Dash won the game, 1-0. Nguyen threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. Emerson Leal claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2.2 innings. His record stands at 4-5.

Winston-Salem used the timely hitting of Aden Ekstrom to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Dash on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We leaned on our pitching tonight," Ekstrom said.

The first-place Dash, at 68-45, lead the East Coast League Mideast Division by 2½ games.
