Mets Topple Mudcats, 4-1
|
Scott Corona was superb against Carolina. The right-hander had a circle change that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Mets victory. The score was 4-1. Corona, now 5-2, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 9, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. The save was credited to Anthony Paddock, his 16th.
In the bottom of the fifth, Josh Kinney delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 2nd and 3rd, the St. Lucie second baseman hit a 2-run single, putting the Mets in front, 4-1.
"Scott -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Mets manager Octavio Collazo. "He was the key to us winning."
The Mudcats, now 42-70, have lost 5 straight.
