Yerry Garcia was a major factor in the 9-7 Carolina win over Winston-Salem. The Mudcats center fielder went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. E.J. Mullen got the win, improving to 8-5. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 7 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 1. Carolina now owns a record of 60-50.
Dannysmel Calderon helped out the Carolina cause in the bottom of the second inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the first baseman was 1 for 4.
"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Garcia told the Carolina Daily News.
