Pit Spitters Get Thrilling 9-8 Win
The Virginia Beach Mariners could not turn a fine performance from shortstop Darwin Beato into a win. Instead, the Traverse City Pit Spitters prevailed, 9-8, in 14 innings. Beato was 4-5 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs. Yoandy Jiménez picked up the win in relief for Traverse City, while Yosnier Ruelas took the loss. The last-place Pit Spitters now have a win-loss record of 40-70.

Joshua Robertson went 1 for 6 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Traverse City. The 22-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the 14th. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 8-8 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Yosnier Ruelas. It was his 6th RBI of the season.
