Tampa Beats Hudson Valley, 8-3
|
The Tampa Tarpons had to overcome a big game from Hudson Valley shortstop Torquemada Abreu to leave George M. Steinbrenner Field with a victory. And they did, winning, 8-3. Abreu was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. The Tarpons go to 50-62, putting them 7th in the East Coast League Florida Division.
Tampa used a well-timed hit by Maximilian Ortíz to capture the win. The left fielder socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Tarpons ahead, 6-2. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"That was not our best effort," said Hudson Valley skipper Bentley Love.
