Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Mudcats
|
The Carolina Mudcats did just enough to sneak past the Florida Fire Frogs, 1-0, at Osceola County Stadium. Carolina pitcher Anthony Rose, in particular, had a standout performance. Carolina reliever Eli Berube picked up the win, raising his record to 7-4. Logan Shamel was tagged with the loss. Desmond Lockhart recorded the save for Carolina, his 8th of the season.
Amentario Valdez, the 23-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Valdez contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put Carolina up, 1-0.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Valdez told the Carolina Observer.
The Mudcats saw their win-loss record go to 40-65. At the same time, the Fire Frogs fell to 47-58.
