JetHawks Drop Giants, 5-2
|
The Lancaster JetHawks topped the San Jose Giants, 5-2, in 11 innings. Lancaster left fielder Ethan Coker, in particular, was impressive. He went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Dave Dau, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. San Jose, with the loss, is 1-2.
Coker had a game-changing home run in the top of the 11th. On a 0-1 curveball from Brantley Salvant, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the JetHawks a 5-2 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Coker.
Said losing manager Dylan D'Onofrio: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
