Diamonds Score Late to Beat Storm, 7-6
|
The Diamonds earned a hard-fought, 7-6 win in 12 innings at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium. To do so required withstanding a fine effort from Lake Elsinore pitcher Larry Burley. Burley went 6 innings and allowed 3 runs. Pittsburg reliever Bryan Marinari was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Lanny Whitten took the loss. With the loss, Lake Elsinore falls to 1-2.
A crucial at-bat came with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the eighth inning. That's when center fielder Travis Moore drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Diamonds went on to win.
"Our guys just had that look of determination," said winning manager Joe Reyes.
