In a close game at Banner Island Ballpark, the Bakersfield Blaze edged the Stockton Ports, 4-3. Bakersfield third baseman Anthony Spires stood apart with his performance. He was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Bakersfield reliever Eden Hanks was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Dillon Aldridge took the loss.

Spires contributed in the top of the fifth. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a run-scoring single. It was one at-bat among others that helped Bakersfield get the win.

"They were just a little bit better than us," Stockton manager Tristan Batista said.
