Goldeyes Beat Sidewinders, 3-2
|
Though he had a great game, Virgil Guinea could not single-handedly produce a win for Tucson. Winnipeg won the game, 3-2. Guinea went 1 for 1 with a home run and 3 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. With the win, Winnipeg boosts its record to 5-6.
Had David Atkinson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Atkinson hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Goldeyes.
"That's baseball," said Tucson manager Mike Briggs. "You're not always going to be hitting on all cylinders."
