Flying Tigers first baseman Willie Salazar left his mark on his team's 9-3 win over the Lynchburg Hillcats. Salazar, who leads the ECL in hits with 136, went 4-6 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for Lakeland in the contest. Dave Semerdjian was the winner. Over 6 innings, he yielded 2 runs on 4 hits, with 4 walks and 6 strikeouts. The Flying Tigers sit in third place in the East Coast League Florida Division with a record of 55-52.
Cody Gross had a big 2-run double for the Flying Tigers in the top of the eighth inning. With Lakeland leading 4-2 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a sinker from 24-year old left-handed pitcher Asher Buffington and swatted a double to left. It was his 13th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Flying Tigers ahead, 6-2.
