Mariners Stick Stone Crabs with 4-1 Loss
|
In the 4-1 Virginia Beach win over Charlotte, the impact of Levi Curry was substantial. Curry was 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI. Virginia Beach pitcher Evan Jackson got the win. He's now 4-0. Yuniel De León was tagged with the loss. Collins Nelson earned the save, his 3rd.
With Virginia Beach leading 2-1 in the top of the ninth, Curry hit a fastball from Woody Ornelas for a 2-run double. It was his 13th double of the season and put the Mariners ahead, 4-1.
"This is a great group to be a part of, and it's a big win for us," Curry told the Virginia Beach Gazette.
The Mariners are now 49-52, while the Stone Crabs fall to 61-40.
