The Virginia Beach Mariners could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Alberto Baxter into a win. Instead, the Tampa Tarpons prevailed, 5-4. Baxter threw 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball. The loss makes Virginia Beach 52-49.

The Tarpons got a clutch hit from first baseman Bill Huston. In the bottom of the 11th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Tarpons.

"We battled our tails off to get this win," said Tampa manager Connor Ray.
