Elroy Sharpe was a major contributor to the 5-4 Virginia Beach win over St. Lucie. The Mariners first baseman went 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. Picking up his 11th save was 25-year old right-handed pitcher Anthony Dunn. At 46-51, the Mariners find themselves in 4th place in the East Coast League Mideast Division.

Had Jacob Jacobs not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Jacobs hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Mariners.
