The Virginia Beach Mariners faced a tough opponent in Tampa pitcher Ron James, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Virginia Beach Ballpark by a final score of 4-3. James went 6.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Virginia Beach reliever Alberto Baxter was the winner. His record is now 5-6. Owen Howe took the loss. Virginia Beach, now 43-57, holds down 8th place in the East Coast League Mideast Division.

Sawyer Harris was the walk-off hero for Virginia Beach. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Mariners third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
