Ash Blasts Lobsters, Lake Monsters Take Game 2, 6-4
|
Vermont Lake Monsters manager Daniel Barlow wasn't expecting much from the rookie playing in his first postseason. Maybe he should have been.
In front of a supportive hometown crowd, 21-year-old center fielder Hudson Ash humbled the visiting Maine Lobsters at Centennial Field. Ash was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice as the Lake Monsters shut out the Lobsters by a final score of 6-4, to force a 1-1 tie in the best-of-7 Wild Card Series.
Ross Carr hit a run-scoring triple off Zeke Crespo in the bottom of the seventh, which put the Lake Monsters in front, 5-4. Carr had 2 singles, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 3 for 4.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Carr told the Vermont Bulletin. "It's as simple as that."
Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday at Portland Ballpark in Portland.
