Red Wings Hammered by Long, Drop Game 1 to Gremlins
|
The Youngstown Gremlins started the Wild Card Series in style, winning on the road against the Hamilton Red Wings at Red Wings Ballpark by a score of 7-4 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Gremlins center fielder Dawson Long excelled. He was 2-2 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3.
In the top of the ninth, Long hit a 3-run home run to put his team on top. The Gremlins would go on to win the game.
"Things broke our way today and that's great," Gremlins manager Brandon Haviland said. "It's important, though, to stay focused and not pat yourself on the back too much. We aren't done yet."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Red Wings Ballpark in Hamilton.
