Gulls Thwart Rattlers, 4-2

Ventura second baseman Theodore Brand contributed significantly to his team's 4-2 win over the Rancho Cucamonga Rattlers. Brand, who is tied for 9th in the CAL in stolen bases with 3, went 3 for 4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Gulls. Kyrie Stasiak earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3.2 innings. He upped his record to 2-0. Conrado Turcios earned his 4th save, after closing out the game.
Brand contributed in the bottom of the fifth. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 2-run double. It was one at-bat among others that helped Ventura get the win.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Brand said.
With the win, Ventura goes to 9-6.
