Rafters Win 4th Straight, Take Down Chiefs, 2-1
|
Bend and Wenatchee duked it out and the Rafters came out victorious.
Virgil Dubeau, who is tied for 2nd in the NWL in wins with 7, was in top form in a tight contest between Bend and Wenatchee. The Rafters right-hander helped his team beat the Chiefs, 2-1. Bend is now 36-17, 5 games up in the Northwest League South Division.
Bend used a well-timed hit by Tony Cabañas to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Rafters ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Well, it's always frustrating to lose," said Wenatchee manager Oscar Wilson.
