Emeralds Suffer 7-4 Setback
|
The Wenatchee Chiefs downed the Eugene Emeralds, 7-4. The hitting star was shortstop Gabe Coplan. Coplan was 3-4 with 3 singles for the Chiefs. Gus Tack was the winning pitcher. Over 5 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 8 hits, with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts. The save went to Victor Vásquez, his 14th this season.
Nick Bourgeau aided the Wenatchee cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the second. For the game, the designated hitter drew 1 walk.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Wenatchee manager Aaron Lambert.
The Chiefs now have a record of 37-23 with the win over Eugene.
