Ironbirds Best Doubledays in Pitching Duel
|
Aberdeen Ironbirds starter Brent McRae was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Auburn Doubledays, 2-0. Luther Allen converted his 11th save in 14 tries. The 6th-place Ironbirds raised their record to 33-28.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the sixth, with the game tied, Mark McKnight was at the plate when Aberdeen scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Ironbirds to go in front, 1-0.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," McKnight said.
