Krodel Lifts Oilers to 5-4 Win
|
Oil City center fielder Matt Krodel picked up 4 ribbies while helping his team beat back the Niagara Falls Rapids, 5-4. Benjamin Wolff got the win, improving to 3-4. He held the Rapids to 4 runs on 5 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 2. Alex Bruning got credit for the save for Oil City. It was his 8th of the year.
It could have been a different outcome for Oil City, had it not been for Yoannys Liriano, the 22-year old catcher . Liriano contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Oil City up, 5-4.
"We ground out the win," said Krodel. "That's all that matters."
The second-place Oilers have won 4 straight games.
