Cyclones Slip Past Vermont, 7-6
|
The Brooklyn Cyclones topped the Vermont Lake Monsters, 7-6, the lion's share of the credit going to shortstop Plessy Segale. On the day, Segale was 1-2 with a double and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs for the Cyclones. Noah Sellers earned the save for Brooklyn, his 12th of the year. At 33-27, the Cyclones are currently 5th in the New York-Penn League South Division.
The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Stan Hartman came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Vermont pitcher Paco Carvajal, he hit a full count fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Brooklyn on top, 7-5.
"I had pretty good command out there," said Hartman.
