Lake Monsters Curb Rafters, 5-1
|
Getting an impressive start from Phil Côté, Vermont beat Bend by the score of 5-1. Côté, now 2-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 4, and allowing 1 run. The Lake Monsters raised their record to 35-24.
The Lake Monsters got a lift from third baseman Ray Bontoux, who in the bottom of the sixth hit a 2-run double. His 17th double of the season put the Lake Monsters on top, 5-1.
"Winning breeds more winning, I guess," said Bontoux.
