Big Day for Torkelson: Swats 5 Hits Saturday, September 7th , 1963 Fort Walton Beach Jets catcher Larry Torkelson really lit up the Ozark/Andalusia Dodgers with a 5-hit barrage today at Andalusia Municipal Stadium -- a performance that sparked the Jets to a 15-2 triumph. He shrugged off the performance after the game, saying "sometimes the ball finds outfielders, today the ball found some holes." Larry Torkelson singled in the 1st, walked in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 5th, was hit by a pitch in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 9th. This year Torkelson is batting .390 with 2 home runs. |
