NYPL Top Pitcher Award for September to Abarbanel Friday, October 1st , 1965 The hottest hurler in the New York-Pennsylvania League last month was Mickey Abarbanel of the Jamestown Tigers. He caught the attention of everybody in the league with some eye-catching stats, good enough to win the NYPL Pitcher of the Month. In September, Abarbanel starred with an impressive 4-1 record. In 5 starts he gave up 37 base hits and struck out 43 in 41.2 innings with a 3.67 ERA. Checking out his stats for the season, Abarbanel has notched 10 wins and 6 losses in 21 starts, 4.32 ERA and struck out 170 batters in 154 innings. |
