Roland Magic in 6-0 Shutout Sunday, September 1st , 1963 Jim Roland held the Batavia Pirates to 8 hits and fashioned a fine 6-0 shutout at MacArthur Stadium today. Speaking after the game, Erie Sailors manager Nate Ehl said "Roland had everything going for him today. He changed speeds effectively, stayed down, had a lot of movement. He was masterful." Roland rung up 7 strikeouts and surrendered 2 walks in the game. "We couldn't get anything going. He certainly had our number," Batavia manager Danny Ceja told reporters. For the season Roland has logged 12 wins and 7 losses and struck out 137 batters in 147.2 innings while compiling a 3.29 ERA. |
