1975 APPY Top Player Trophy Given to Jemison
Sunday, September 28th , 1975
At the age of 21, Greg Jemison of the Marion Mets could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 1975 was good enough to win the right fielder the Appalachian League Most Valuable Player Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .336 batting average this year, as well as a .450 on-base percentage. He played 65 games and racked up 86 hits, 10 doubles, 5 triples, 4 home runs, 35 RBIs and 65 runs scored.
He received 5 first place votes out of a possible 8. William Suter of the Marion Mets finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Tim Hosley of the Marion Mets finished third with 1 first place vote.
