Franklin Spins Shutout Against Astros Wednesday, August 10th , 1977 It wasn't easy but Jeffrey Franklin made it look that way. Franklin silenced the Cocoa Astros, 5-0, in a Daytona Beach Islanders triumph at City Island Ballpark today. Despite the appearance of dominance, Franklin said later that he felt like he was struggling all game. He gave up 5 walks and 3 hits. "It didn't feel quite right today, but I made the decision to bear down and work through it," he said. "I made a few mistakes but it goes to show what you can do with grit and not much else." To date this season Franklin sports a 10-12 mark with a 3.61 ERA in 24 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .243 batting average and has 108 strikeouts in 184.1 innings. |
