Salmon: Big Hit in the American Association Monday, September 9th , 1963 So far in his young career, Chico Salmon has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the American Association in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts. The 22-year-old Denver Bears center fielder hit at a torrid .545 clip as he collected 12 hits in 22 at-bats, 2 home runs, 9 RBIs and 3 runs scored. This year Salmon has hit at a .377 clip with 63 hits, 8 home runs, 34 RBIs and 25 runs scored. |
