Milwaukee-St. Louis Deal: Smith for Barnes Sunday, March 23rd , 1980 The Brewers and Cardinals pulled the trigger on a deal that will see 30-year old C Donald Smith head to St. Louis in exchange for 23-year old minor league 2B Michael Barnes. A source close to Milwaukee officials said, "The teams spent long hours coming to the agreement and in the end, both agreed the deal should help both clubs." For his career Smith is hitting .231 with 56 homers, 198 RBIs and 295 hits. |
