Round 1 Sweep to Bees
The Burlington Bees rolled over the Wausau Mets 4-3 at Wasau Athletic Park to easily win the 1978 Round 1 crown.

Burlington won in a walk and swept the series from the Mets 4-0. It was their 3rd championship title.

Winning manager praised his own club as well as the opposition, calling the Mets "a fine team."

"It wasn't as easy as it looked. We had to play good baseball to beat them," he said. "We always seemed to come up with the key hit at the right time and to make the plays on defense when we had to. That's how you win the Round 1."

The Bees took first place in the Midwest League South and rounded out the year with a 101-39 record.
