Marlins Spill White Sox, 4-3
|
Led by Jason Bay, the Florida Marlins defeated the Chicago White Sox, 4-3. Bay went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs for the Marlins. Billy Wagner earned the save, his 16th, for the Marlins. The Marlins improved their record to 31-35 with the win over Chicago.
Eric Benavidez was 2-3 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs for Florida. The 28-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Greg McMichael. It was his 20th RBI of the season.
"Our offense was purring," said Florida manager Mike Shoer. "Like a well-oiled machine."
