Red Sox Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Brewers, 6-2
|
The Milwaukee Brewers got a superb performance from pitcher Marvin Fodor, but the Boston Red Sox still won the game, 6-2. Fodor threw 7.0 innings allowing 1 runs. Juan Quintana earned his 22nd save in 29 chances. The first-place Red Sox have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.
Had Ken Suarez not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Suarez hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Red Sox.
"It was a good win," said Boston manager Mike T. "Not without blemish, but good."
