Royals Turn Back White Sox, 3-2
|
The Kansas City Royals got their 2003 season off and running with a win over the Chicago White Sox at Kauffman Stadium. The final score was 3-2. Kansas City pitcher Scott Navarro, in particular, had a fine performance. Jeff Tam, 1-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. Santiago Ramirez, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
First Baseman Travis Lee made an impact for Kansas City, when he swatted a 2-run home run off Bryan Rekar in the bottom of the fourth. For the contest, Lee was 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"It's so much easier when you throw good pitches," said Navarro.
