Blue Jays Clip Athletics, 7-6
|
Though he had a stellar game, Pablo Sandoval could not prevent his team, the Oakland Athletics, from losing, 7-6, to the Toronto Blue Jays. Sandoval was 2-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. The first-place Blue Jays have won 4 straight games.
Chris Iannetta had a big 2-run home run for the Blue Jays in the bottom of the first inning. With Toronto leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Chris George, who is tied for 4th in the AL in quality starts with 4, and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Blue Jays on top, 3-0.
Iannetta told a Toronto Daily News reporter that he was "very happy" with the win.
