McLouth Helps Yankees Run Win Streak to 5
|
The New York Yankees beat the Boston Red Sox, 7-4, at Yankee Stadium. Nate McLouth, who is tied for 8th in the AL in bases on balls with 22, starred for New York. He went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Jake Peavy got the win, improving to 4-2. He worked 7 innings, giving up 4 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 3. Picking up the save was Joel Hanrahan, his 6th.
The Yankees got a big at-bat from catcher Emmanuel Valdez. For the game, Valdez went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave New York a 5-4 lead.
Valdez told the New York Today: "Sometimes the big stage is not big enough for me."
New York is now 17-14.
