Giants Beat Cincinnati, 2-1
|
Cincinnati wasted a solid 8.2-inning effort from starting pitcher Larry Wimberly, losing to San Francisco, 2-1, at Pac Bell Park. The Giants, now 25-5, have stormed out of the gates.
The decisive blow was delivered by Jayson Werth in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 23-year old right-handed pitcher Roman Colon to win the game for San Francisco. The home crowd went nuts.
Werth said his team "played with a purpose."
