Texas Rangers starter Jeff Norwood was on his game, helping his team beat the Kansas City Royals, 5-2. No one expected much of this team, but the hot start by Texas might have some re-evaluating their pre-season predictions. This latest win lifts their record to 14-9.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Jose Vidro? The 23-year old shortstop Vidro stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put Texas up, 5-2. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.

"I liked his command," said Texas manager Byron Kemp. "Jeff was throwing strikes."
