Diamondbacks Rally to Win
|
The Arizona Diamondbacks overcame a good performance by Florida shortstop Orlando Cabrera to knock off Florida, 7-3, at Pro Player Stadium. Cabrera went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Arizona pitcher Cecilio Gonzalez got the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jim Abbott got the loss. Getting the save was Bernie Dzafic, his 1st.
Terry Steinbach had a key at-bat with two out in the top of the eighth for Arizona. With the bases loaded and the Diamondbacks leading 4-3, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"We came in and did what we needed to do," said Arizona manager Larry Link.
The Marlins drop to 11-13 and continue their mediocre start to the 1998 season.
