The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays, 7-4. Left Fielder David Justice deserved a large share of the credit. Justice was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Yankees. Jose Rosado was the winner. He's now 1-2. The loser was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Ted Silva. The win puts New York at 10-9.

New York used a well-timed hit by Pokey Reese to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Yankees ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

Reese told the New York Observer: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."
