Guardians Rally to Win, 3-2
|
Cleveland Guardians starter Darryl Kile turned in an exceptional performance against the Detroit Tigers at Jacobs Field, resulting in a Cleveland win, 3-2. Cleveland reliever Billy Koch got the win, raising his record to 1-1. Tony Mounce was tagged with the loss. The losing streak for Detroit has now reached 5 games.
Cleveland got a clutch hit from Matt Curtis. The catcher launched a solo home run in the bottom of the 13th inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.
"It was a test of wills," said Bobby McGrew, the Cleveland skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."
