Reds 3B Gersek goes 3-for-4 in Win
|
Cincinnati and Arizona got after it at Chase Field.
The Cincinnati Reds grabbed a win, 8-5, over the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field. Cincinnati third baseman Ladomér Gersek was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. The winner was Cincinnati reliever Gabe Guerra, now 3-2. The loser was Mark Howe.
Cincinnati used the timely hitting of Walter Alcazar to seize the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Reds on top, 8-5. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Alcazar said.
The loss makes Arizona 53-60.
