Expos Squelch Braves Offense in Shutout Win
|
Andy McGaffigan was locked and loaded, helping the Montreal Expos beat the Atlanta Braves, 6-0. McGaffigan, now 10-5, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 2, walking 2, and allowing no runs. This win makes it 6 in a row for Montreal.
The Expos got a big hit from right fielder Ruben Sierra. In the bottom of the fifth, Sierra pounded a grand slam home run to left. His 17th home run of the season put the Expos ahead, 6-0.
Sierra attributed the win to his team's "hyper resolve."
