Chicago Wins at Home to Take 2-1 Lead in WC
When he got to Chicago, Kevin Gross was just worrying about staying on the roster. Today, he was starring in the Wild Card.

The 21-year-old rookie right-hander shut out the visiting Boston Red Sox 7-0 in a remarkable performance at Comiskey Park 1976-1990 today. With the win, the White Sox took a 2-1 lead in the best-of-5 Wild Card.

Gross, a native of Downey, California, was dealing all game. He kept Boston hitters off-balance, while giving the White Sox 9 quality innings. Gross threw 129 pitches, allowing 6 hits and striking out 6.

"It's hard to overstate how much this mattered to us, especially in a short series," Chicago manager Brian Rios said.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Comiskey Park 1976-1990 in Chicago.
