Nationals Drop Yankees, 6-3
|
The Washington Nationals dealt the New York Yankees a 6-3 loss at Nationals Park. Stephon Etienne was the star on offense. He was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Pete Peters, 1-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. Washington improves to 38-23 with the win. They lead their division by 2½ games.
In the bottom of the fourth, Washington center fielder Gregorio Hamilton whacked a slider to right for a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season put the Nationals in front, 4-3.
"This is a very good team," said Etienne. "We have the chance to do something special."
