The Toronto Blue Jays got great pitching from 26-year old left-handed pitcher Patsy Flaherty, allowing them to bump off the New York Yankees, 3-1. Flaherty, now 1-0, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 1, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Toronto, with the win, is 7-3.

The Blue Jays got a big at-bat from second baseman Jody Reed. For the game, Reed went 2-4 with 2 doubles. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 7th double of the season gave Toronto a 2-1 lead.
